Leif Nilsson (1998 - 2006)
Born in 1943 in Stockholm.
For several years he had been an irreplaceable
reporter for the daily paper "Expressen" (athletics, basketball, football, ice
hockey etc.) and recently he has been editing turf (horse racing) in the same
paper.
He is the president of the Swedish NSJA. Well experienced in organizing
press services at the biggest sports competitions.
He was awarded with the
Swedish Athletic Association's and Swedish Basketball Association's Badge of
Honour. From 1994 till 1998 he had been a member of the UEPS Board, while for
the time being he is the UEPS delegate for AIPS.

Gianni Merlo (1994 - 1998)
Born in 1947 in Vigevano.
He is one of the most profiled journalists of the Italian sports paper "La Gazzetta dello Sport" (Milano), a specialist for athletics, skiing and sports policy. He had been the publisher of the magazine "Atletica Leggera" for a long time and participated in the publication of several books.
From 1990 till 1994 he had been a member of the UEPS Board. Since 1986 he has been a president of the AIPS Speciallist Commission for Athletics. He has covered 15 Olympic Games - seven Summer and eight Winter.

Elie Sporidis (1982 - 1994)
Born in 1929 in Athens.
Journalist since 1947, he was the publisher for several Greek papers and magazines and a correspondent to many foreign media. Additionally, he was a reporter for the agency AFP for a long time.
From 1958 till 1986 he had been Vice President and Secretary General of the Greek Sports Journalists Association. He was a member of the Board of the International Olympic Academy, member of the IOC Press Commission as well as the one for the Mediterranean Games. He had been the Vice President of AIPS from 1993 to 1997.
He has been awarded with the AIPS gold medal, the award of the Press and IOC Olympic Order.

† Frank Taylor (1977- 1981)
Born in 1920 in Manchester.
He had been a sports journalist since 1937. He joined RAF during the 2nd World War (till 1946), where he was also an outstanding athlete - footballer and sprinter.
He had worked for a number of British papers - "News Chronicle", "Daily Herald", "Daily Mail", "The Sun" and then "Daily Mirror". In 1958 he was seriously injured, but survived, in the plane crash at Munich, on the way back from Belgrade with the football team of Manchester United.
He was a member of the Press Commissions of IOC and FIFA, while he had been an AIPS President from 1973 till 1977 and from 1981 till 1993.
